Dominos is fixing the road and taking credit. The only way they loose ad space is if they repave the entire road. Genius. Look down Banksy.

So what other viral ideas come to mind?

We could plaster ads all over the streets. As long as its not a Federal Highway, I imagine each city has a Green Light on innovation like this. Heck, they write the laws…

What else comes to mind? Here is what a quick search found.

Imagine going down the hall in this. You can almost hear the guidance counselors hammering out an Addendum to the dress code policy….

Here is the one I want. I send money and get whatever I want. “Let the rest eat Pizza”.

All fun aside, Wikispeedia.org has been collecting speed limit information and giving it out free of charge since 2005. I could write a book on how to keep a site up for that long without resorting to blatent sharecropping like OSM appears to be.  link

I will get hate mail for that, and its all good, but a charity not getting money from people who will directly benefit is hard. Think of the old co-op days where farmers built a common feed-store and called it a co-op. That is different from a charity and shouldn’t be blurred as such. Years back I thought of changing Wikispeedia to become a .coop domain, but that would have to come from the top down, eg, Navteq forming it, etc.

Wikispeedia is a bottom up company. What can we do with speed limits is what we ask. Cruise controls, Service Hours, Apps, stuff that you wish the government would gather and publish, but since we are in “Merica”, we don’t want the Feds hosting a DB of State Speed Limit signs. Hence our wonderful rainbow of opportunity known as Wikispeedia.

Today is a big day for us. We are now a 501c3, so donations to paypal.me/wikispeedia are tax deductable. But if you are Navteq, we don’t want your money, but you can have a bucket of speed limits on us.

Road Rage is curable. Look around on this site for tricks to make your beater car (like mine) equivalent to that BMW which just cut you off !
